I never had the privilege of meeting Al but heard much about him from Jamie. I would have liked to have known him. I have great respect for Jamie and she adored him. To me, that says much about Al. Looking at the video and reading the other tributes, confirms my feeling that Al's passing is a great loss.

My husband and I met Al & Jamie on our honeymoon cruise (June 2009). It was a chance meeting fairly early on in our 15 day cruise and it was truly a blessing. Not only did we have the pleasure of your company for our trip, but sharing dinners and stories you two both inspired us so much. The love that you two shared, the light, laughter and love brought to every situation was just amazing. There were a few pieces of advice you both gave us on our honeymoon and we continue to strive to attain and maintain them....travel often, make sure you enjoy what you do for work, remember that your love for each other is what started it all and will carry you through all of the good and more challenging times. I truly think it a testament to what an amazing man Al was and what a wonderful woman you are Jamie, that a random couple that met you on their honeymoon has stayed in contact. We admired your marriage so much and I'm so glad we kept in touch. The world is short one amazing man without Al, but his memory will stay within the hearts of so many.

Sending much love and aloha ~ Alison & Landon

I was truly shocked to hear this unexpected news this morning from my sister. I was just home for Heritage Days and we yelled at Kenny at Norris Park and he came over and had a good long chat with my family. I got to know Al well at the Pizza Hut when we were in high school and became overnight friends. Al is an old soul and he will continue to live on for a good long time. My condolences.

I remember singing at Allen and Jamie's wedding. I was so honored that they asked me. I had recently become a Christian. The pastor put his arm around me and said, "Come on. Let's get these two married!" It was a beautiful wedding.

Jamie, my heart goes out to you--what a loss. I guess I knew Al as well as any uncle could--he was a great person. Some may not remember or know about his athletic accomplishments -- like his state-high ranking in football receptions. It made an uncle proud! He and brother Ken would beat up on North Platte and I would be the only NP fan in the stands cheering for McCook. We will miss him.

Al Meyers was the essence of COOL! He was an incredible person, a gifted athlete and a man of many talents. I truly regret not staying in close contact with him all those years after high school. So many memories of mischief and good times. His kind eyes, his warm smile and that laugh that would draw you in. My sincerest condolences to Jamie, Ken, Kathy and extended families.

Jamie, Ken & families. My prayers go out to you all in your hour of need. May God's hand be on you as you celebrate Allen's life. Reading his obituary and looking at the pictures tell me that some things just don't change...Ken still looks the same today as he did with Allen and the love Jamie and Allen shared for many years obviously didn't change. Obviously Al touched many lives.
